I started living in Belgium last June, but somehow, we didn’t do much last summer. I think it was cos I was “jobless”, and hence I did not want to “spend”. The thing you need to do when you go out. But this year, we made the most of summer! We attended little festivities – that were even free, and ate yummy food for very cheap. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced SUMMER in this way, soooo…. SUMMERY.
we went to the GHENT Festival. For 10 days every summer, the mayor hands over his duties to a temporary mayor –
who’s job is to hold this festival!!!
For 10 days, youngsters come here and drink and play and cars are not allowed.
This is Ghent centre, a canal with pretty houses on each side.
It was very cosy and cute, but 1 day was enough for me! I thinki’d be bored coming back the 2nd day.
But Tom had colleagues who come every night of the 10 days to get drunk!
Ugh, this was awful! do you see whats behind Tom? They set up all these “temporary” toilets
for guys ALL over the town and you could just go stand there and pee… in PUBLIC.
And NO BASIN TO WASH YOUR HANDS AFTER!!!!
In a very fancy Chinese restaurant.
the food was no good, except for one dish – pork belly.
might come back just for that dish.
Tom found out Backstreet Boys would be in Belgium, in the seaside town of Ostende. So we went there one weekend to “listen” to the concert, from outside the concert area… free concert
I couldn’t help but feel so young again!!! At the same time also felt so OLD!!!
Over a decade ago!!!
Lian used to LOVE this, she used to sing this – every word at just like 3 or 4 years old.
A little video when we went to a square to watch BELGIUM vs USA in world cup 2014
One weekend, we went to a food festival in Leuven.
Basically all restaurants set up tents and sold their stuff for VERY cheap.
The place was CROWDED for a Sunday – normally a very dead day in town.
I can’t help but wonder where do all these people go when there are no festivals!??
