T has been wanting to take me to Ski for the past 3 years. And although I just knew it wouldn’t be something for my clumsy self, it was an amazing experience. I realize that I just love being in the mountains, seeing and feeling the endless vastness and being in our cosy sweaters eating the best French fondues. Honestly, although I love eating cheese – I literally cannot eat that much at one time as my stomach just won’t be able to digest it. But SOMEHOW, I could just EAT SOOOO MUCH cheese here and be okay, perhaps it’s the freshness of it…. wow I’d come back just for the cheese. And the amazing thing is – its even cheaper than fondue in Brussels despite the fact that all ingredients had to be taken ALL the way up to the mountain. The mushroom fondue was nothing like I’ve had anywhere else in Europe or elsehwere – it wasn’t “flavoured” it was STRONG of mushroom AND cheese and oh-so-fresh!!!
Avoriaz is the perfect skiing winter wonderland. NO CARS are allowed. There were actually horse drawn carriages everywhere. The hotels really looked like out of a post card – wooden alpine feel but with the most modern amenities inside. Our room had a VIEW. I totally sucked at the Ski, but worse, I was wayy too scared to even enjoy it. But I could understand and imagine why people love it, and if we can afford it, I would so send our kids to go learn skiing. I have never seen such a HUGE group of kids, ranging from 3-7, all together – without a single WORD!!! They were all sooooo quiet, soooo concerntrated …. and so FEARLESS. THey were sooo cute like little super heroes skiin down the mountains.
We got to share this beautiful holiday with Blondie & Nathalie. Luckily we have the same tastes – from budget to food to being lazy and enjoying the sun and view! I don’t think I’ll go skiing again but I would be back just to enjoy the view, the cheese, and lazy in the sun while the boys go skiing. And did I mention the cheese?
